REPAIRS to a major road in Barnsley badly damaged by last year's devastating floods are expected to take five weeks.
Work has started on a 155metre section of the A628 Barnsley road between Silkstone and Dodworth at Silkstone Fall.

Barnsley Council plans to rebuild flood-damaged sections of wall and resurface the carriageway around the bend at Silkstone Fall.
There are also plans to improve safety by adding road markings and signs.

Roadworks are set to take five weeks to complete and a temporary speed limit of 30mph will be enforced with temporary traffic signals to protect the workforce.

Long-term plans for improving the damaged stretch of road include a proposed reduction in the speed limit, bringing it down to 50mph between Silkstone Cross and Fall Bank industrial estate.
