A HOST of arts projects in South Yorkshire have received a share of £560,000 of National Lottery grants being handed out around the region.
Rotherham Culture Company scooped the biggest amount, having been awarded £90,000.

The cash will fund a festival this month and another in October 2009, featuring art classes and giving opportunities for communities to get involved in artwork. The
events will also support local artists.

Sheffield's Greentop Community Circus was awarded £65,000, while Sheffield International Documentary Festival got £17,000 to commission new films and help digital artists.

Sheffield's Art In The Park project received £15,000 for its 2009 programme and to support a volunteer training programme, while city artist Emma Cocker has been given £4,000 to attend an arts festival in Japan.

Barnsley literary group Signposts was allocated £21,000 to help young people develop their skills and create high quality literature for publication.
