Artist joins NHS 60th birthday celebrations

ARTIST Ashley Jackson will join hospital governors in Barnsley on Saturday to launch an open day and mark the 60th anniversary of the NHS.
The Barnsley Hospital Open Day, from 11am to 4pm, will include behind-the-scenes tours of an operating theatre and A&E, mini health checks, and resuscitation and life support workshops.

In the Kids Zone specialist teddy doctors will make poorly Ba
rnsley bears better. Children with old or worn out teddies are urged to bring them along to be made fit again. Kids can also dress up, have their pictures taken for free, and find out what it's like to stay in hospital.

Visitors can even sample what hospital food really tastes like compared to a war years menu from the 1940s when the NHS was first born. Parking free.
