A SHEFFIELD-BASED artist who has been involved in projects with fashion and furniture designers, architects and cultural critics now has an exhibition at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park.
Sarah Staton's exhibition at the park near Barnsley presents colourful, wooden "topiary" sculptures which can be seen in the Bothy Gallery and the 18th Century designed landscape.

Sarah says the art of topiary has had a revival in gardens around t
he world, and she has developed her work from sketches of sculpted trees made by roadside gardeners in Brazil. Also included in her exhibition is a selection of her paintings.

This exhibition follows her 2007 commission to produce a range of products to celebrate the park's 30th anniversary.

Sarah will also lead 12 students, chosen in an international competition, to design and create open air seating.

Sarah Staton, who graduated from St Martin's School of Art in 1988, lives and works in Sheffield and London and has had solo exhibitions in London, Sheffield, Berlin and New York.

She was awarded a two year Henry Moore Fellowship at Sheffield Hallam University in 2002, and this year was joint winner of The Arts Foundation prize for sculpture in wood.

Her work is featured in the Royal Academy's 2008 Summer Exhibition.
