BARNSLEY boss Simon Davey heads into Saturday's clash with Coventry believing that the Reds need only a minor adjustment in their performance level to land their first win of the season in their opening home game.
He feels that his team could well have earned some reward at QPR and in the Cup at Crewe though they slipped up 2-1 and 2-0.
"In the first game we deserved at least a draw, and the other night though we conceded two penalties we had waves of attacks and just couldn't finish the game," he said today.
"It's not as if we've performed poorly - it's not back to the drawing board: It's a matter of tweaking a few things. But no excuses: we should have got something from both games."
Davey watched Coventry beat Aldershot 3-1 in the Carling Cup last night to follow their 2-0 League win against Norwich last Saturday.
He said: "Coventry looked a decent side. They got the goals at crucial times and took their chances when they arrived.
"We've got to try to make sure we don't allow them any chances. It's the same in every game in this division: the strikers will punish you if you give them the opportunity."
Sky Blues summer signing Clinton Morrison scored his first goal for the club last night and Robbie Simpson got two.
Manager Chris Coleman is licking his lips after being drawn against his former Fulham boss Kevin Keegan in the second round of the Carling Cup, thanks to the win against Aldershot: "The reward is a massive draw against Newcastle," he said.
"I had two good years under Kevin at Fulham. He signed me from Blackburn and in our first season we lost in the play-offs and then won the league the year after by a country mile."
