BARNSLEY boss Simon Davey gave a terse "no chance" response to claims that Blackpool were set to make a £150,000 bid for Martin Devaney.
Davey is focused on recruiting rather than shedding players and a fourth summer signing is expected tomorrow.
With Lewin Nyatanga not expected back on Thursday when Barnsley have their first pre-season gathering, another centre-back is thought to be the priority.
Davey believes that Nyatanga, who has been on loan at Oakwell for spells during the last two seasons, wants to remain at his home-town club, Derby County.
Winger Devaney made 28 starts last season and scored four times.
He was signed in the summer of 2005 on a free transfer from Watford by Davey's predecessor, Andy Ritchie.
Davey gave the 27-year-old a new contract last season.
He faces new competition for a place in Davey's team from Mounir El Haimour, a 27-year-old from Swiss club NE Xamax who is joining Davey's squad for an undisclosed fee.
He was revealed on Friday as a close-season capture alongside Hugo Roberto Colace, a 24-year-old defensive midfielder from Argentine club Newell's Old Boys.
Meanwhile, the UEFA Cup first qualifying round draw is tomorrow.
Oakwell is to stage Manchester City's home tie in the competition either on July 17 or July 31.
Manchester City are among seven British and Irish clubs in the first qualifying round of this season's competition.
The cup matches will be new manager Mark Hughes' first in charge.
