BARNSLEY boss Simon Davey has ruled midfield schemer Diego Leon out of Saturday's Championship game at Blackpool and is awaiting news of striker Iain Hume.
Leon has not trained since the match against Derby County on August 30. Medics ordered him to completely rest a groin injury. He will sit out the action this weekend.
Hume was today facing a trans-Atlantic dash to make himself available for Saturday. He played for Canada in the early hours of this morning in a 2-1 defeat in Mexico in a World Cup qualifier.
He came off the bench for the last 20 minutes and it was his header that MK Dons' Ali Gerba headed in for Canada's goal.
Today the 24-year-old faced a 10 hour flight from Mexico. "We'll assess the situation when he arrives back," Davey explained.
Barnsley look set to start at Blackpool with striker Kayode Odejayi alongside Jon Macken. Hume is likely to be on the subs' bench.
Leon's fitness problems have opened the door for Hugo Colace to make his long awaited debut.
The Argentine received international clearance to appear for the club last week. He played 70 minutes for the reserves on Tuesday and could start against Blackpool in central midfield alongside Brian Howard.
Jamal Campbell-Ryce will also be in the squad at Blackpool.
He also played in the reserves, completing his comeback from a dislocated elbow.
Anderson de Silva and Maceo Rigters are both ruled out through injury.
Midfielder Anderson will play in the next reserve match and striker Rigters is expected to be available next week.
