Premiere of Spanish opera

A BRITISH public premiere of the first Spanish opera is to be performed at The University of Sheffield next month.
Students from the university will be directed by world- famous harpist and early music expert Andrew Lawrence-King in Juan Hidalgo's Celos aun del aire matan, from February 7 to 9 at 7.30pm each night, at the University Drama Studio.

The opera presents a battle royal between the chaste Goddess Diana and her arch rival Venus the goddess of love. Love, jealousy and revenge are acted out in scenes of high drama, comedy and even the supernatural.
