Young volunteers are bringing Shakespeare to life under the stars with Point Blank Theatre Company.
As part of Sheffield's involvement in the National Year of Reading, there will be a 24-hour Shakespeare marathon happening in town centre on 15th-16th July.
It aims to light up town centre by keeping the verse flowing non-stop for the whole 24 ho
urs.
In addition to the school groups and local drama companies who will be taking up reading parts throughout the event, Point Blank Theatre Company are calling for young people aged 16-25 to get involved.
Energetic young volunteers will be forming a core team to support in every aspect of the event – organisation, on-the-street promotion, and of course reading Shakespeare – as much or as little as they wish.
Passers-by will also be being enticed to join in throughout the event – feel free to duck in and take up reading a part for two minutes, or ten, or more!
Volunteers don't need to have prior performing arts experience, or be the world's expert on Shakespeare – just be up for a laugh.
Anyone interested in getting involved should contact Corinne at Point Blank on 0114 249 3650.
This opportunity forms part of Point Blank's
vinvolved programme – offering exciting voluntary opportunities to 16-25 year olds across South Yorkshire.
It runs from 12pm-12pm in Sheffield city centre but the 24 hours will be split into smaller volunteering shifts.
