SOUTH Yorkshire DJ Miss B has proved her prowess on the decks after making it through to the semi-finals in a European competition.
The 22-year-old from Wombwell, Barnsley, whose real name is Gina Breeze, was picked as one of five from 700 entries to perform live in a regional round of D-Joust in Birmingham.

Her underground progressive house tunes wowed the judges and she was chosen as the regional representative to go to the semi-finals in Brixton next month where she will face other DJs from London and Antwerp.

Gina is now hoping the competition will help her turn music into a career after she handed in her notice at her admin job.

She said: "I'm hoping this will be a good stepping stone for me.

"This is what I want to do for a living - I love everything about it. I've been into music from an early age and have played lots of different instruments but never found what I wanted to do. This is obviously it!"

As well as her success in the competition, Gina is also celebrating the release of her first CD Keep On Tryin' - the proceeds of which are to go to Breast Cancer Care.

She said: "There are people I know who have suffered from breast cancer and I just wanted to do something to raise some cash for a very good cause."
