Brass band celebrates

A SHEFFIELD brass band which finished in a respectable position at its first national contest is giving a show in its home city.
Stannington Band came 10th out of 17 bands at the National Brass Band Finals, in Harrogate, last weekend, and have qualified for the top championship section of next year's competition.

The musicians are playing at the Lomas Hall, Stannington, on
Saturday from 7.30pm, joined by ensemble the Brass Players. Stannington Training Band will also give a short performance. Tickets cost £6 or £5 for concessions and are available from Stannington Hardware, Stannington Road, or by calling 0114 230 1873.

- Stannington Training Band, which rehearses between 6pm and 7pm on Sundays at Malin Bridge Sports and Social Club, is appealing for new members of all ages. Call 0114 2332821.
