Cushman and Wakefield, the world's largest privately held commercial retail property adviser, has appointed Neil Wilson as centre manager for Sheffield's Crystal Peaks Shopping Mall and Retail Park.
Mr Wilson has more than 25 years management and retail experience.
After serving as a Sub Lieutenant in the Royal Navy and studying management at Northumbria University, he joined British Home Stores in Cardiff an eventually became an assistant stor
e manger in Belfast during the 'troubles.'

"I've had to evacuate the store due to an incendiary in the menswear department. Not a lot of Managers can say that," says Neil Wilson.

It's not the first time that he has worked at Crystal Peaks. After joining cinema group UCI he worked in Milton Keynes and then launched the Crystal Peaks' UCI cinema in May 1988, over seeing the construction and completion of the cinema, where the Sainsbury's superstore now is.

After ten years with UCI, during which he became a regional operations manager, he joined Midland Mainline as customer service manager, moved to McArthurGlen Designer Outlet Shopping Centre in Mansfield, gaining a SCEPTRE Award for "Outlet Manager of the Year," and then became centre director at the Festival Place shopping centre in Basingstoke.

Before taking up the Crystal Peaks job, Mr Wilson took a year out and qualified as a lecturer in Business Studies at Huddersfield University, including a spell of teacher training at Doncaster Business School.
