Gemma Gale has been appointed Boots for Africa co-ordinator by Sheffield Football Club.
Gemma, 24, from Waterthorpe, who has been playing in the midfield for Sheffield FC ladies team, will be working with fellow co-ordinator David Tweed to raise awareness of the campaign to send as many football boots as possible to under-privileged children in Africa by the World Cup in 2010.

She will also support Sheffield FC chairman Richard Tims and operations director Dave McCarthy in their day-to-day duties.

Gemma said: "Football helps to build communities, develop social understanding and improves the lives of millions of people around the planet - something we should all share.

"The Boots for Africa appeal will help to develop the skills and fitness of aspiring young footballers in Africa and provide more opportunities to enjoy the beautiful game."
