ENERGY prices have increased by up to 50 per cent but Paddy Murphy at Sheffield-based Jukeboxes Direct got a shock when his bill shot up by thousands of pounds.
The latest charge from nPower came in at a whopping £4188.36, which is £4,000 more than his last one.

The bill was for the well-known advertising site on Sheaf Street near Sheffield railway station, which only has lights.

Paddy said if he had to pay the bill the firm, based on Huntingtower Road, Greystones, would struggle to continue trading.

He added: "This latest bill is just crazy.

"All we have down at Sheaf Street is an advertisement that we light up at night.

"We get slight variations between winter and summer but that is literally just £20 or £30.

"Maybe someone has tapped into the supply and used my electricity.

"There has to be some other explanation and I have tried to explain to nPower that even if we left the lights on all day we couldn't use that much electricity in one quarter."
