HUNGRY Andrew McIlvanney tucked into a microwave peppered steak meal - and nearly choked on a razor sharp piece of bone.
The 41-year-old felt a large foreign object lodge in the roof of his mouth, and was astounded when he pulled out the arrowhead shaped object.
He was further amazed when he read the packaging on his Freshpack meal which stated that it had been 'thoroughly checked for bones and gristle'.
Andrew, of Lichford Road, Low Arbourthorne, Sheffield, said: "If I had swallowed it I don't think I'd still be here. It was the size and sharpness of a flint arrowhead.
"I felt a chill when I realised my five-year-old daughter, who is always pestering me for my food, could have had it.
"And my wife, who's a home carer, buys these meals for pensioners. What if someone who lived alone had choked on it and there was no one around?"
FRESHPACK has sent Andrew a £20 cheque and an apology letter.
The firm, based on Stoke-on-Trent, was unavailable for comment. Andrew said the meal was purchased at Jack Fulton's at Manor Top, Sheffield.
