EXCEL Parking is in the dock again after wrongly issuing a ticket to an innocent motorist at the much-feared roof top car park in Broomhill, Sheffield.
Hylton Herbert said he paid extra to make sure he wouldn't get a ticket after reading about trouble there in Action Desk.

But he got one anyway.

It turns out Excel's computer misread his registration plate - and then a human wrongly sent it for processing.

Mr Herbert, aged 71, of Carfield Place, Meersbrook, Sheffield, said: "The form says only written appeals, but I looked them up in the Yellow Pages and rang.

They realised the error and cancelled the ticket straightaway."

Excel director Martyn Attwood apologised and said the double error was incredibly rare.

He said appeals - when a ticket was correctly issued - had to be in writing, but queries such as Mr Herbert's could be handled over the phone.

Use this number - 0114 266 0400 - and ask for the central ticket office.

taximansam,

out on the streets.... 08/08/2008 11:15:57
Beware if you park at the Berkeley Precinct on Ecclesall Rd - and need to go back within five hours -as you WILL get a ticket from this heartless company...so dont go forgetting something when you shop in Tesco!!!
Excel's actual head office address is 356 Omega Court, Cemetery Rd, S11 8XR though the ticket office is located for down the same up-market site at 366 Omega Ct - behind an unmarked door.
Another tel number is 0114 267 8008 (ext 261 for Ticket Office)

My mum went to the berkeley precinct (eccy rd) to do some shopping. You dont have to pay to park but you get a £60.00 ticket if you go back within five hours (lucky she spotted it in tiny writing on the Excel sign) - you have been warned!
