EXCEL Parking is in the dock again after wrongly issuing a ticket to an innocent motorist at the much-feared roof top car park in Broomhill, Sheffield.
Hylton Herbert said he paid extra to make sure he wouldn't get a ticket after reading about trouble there in Action Desk.
But he got one anyway.
It turns out Excel's computer misread his registration plate - and then a human wrongly sent it for processing.
Mr Herbert, aged 71, of Carfield Place, Meersbrook, Sheffield, said: "The form says only written appeals, but I looked them up in the Yellow Pages and rang.
They realised the error and cancelled the ticket straightaway."
Excel director Martyn Attwood apologised and said the double error was incredibly rare.
He said appeals - when a ticket was correctly issued - had to be in writing, but queries such as Mr Herbert's could be handled over the phone.
Use this number - 0114 266 0400 - and ask for the central ticket office.
