HUNDREDS of Star readers have voted for our first ever Star Idol band.
And the winner is…Craine!
The Sheffield five piece, formed only in April this year, will now be given
the spotlight in a bid to become the next Arctic Monkeys.
They will perform with 19 other hopefuls in front of record company representatives
and music fans over two days at the Star backed Sheffield Live and Unsigned
Festival, powered by The Plug, at Devonshire Green, Sheffield.
More than 3,000 tickets have already been sold for the weekend long event
on Saturday and Sunday, Sept 2 and 3, 2006, 1pm to 9pm.
Craine, who polled almost a third of all your votes, will get the penultimate
spot - on Sunday, September 3, at 7.30pm.
They are Chris Roberts, aged 22, Steve Craine, 25, Scott Ford, 28, Dan Roberts,
20, and Jordan Osborne, 18.
Craine describe their sound as melodic rock with big hooks and memorable
choruses. Chris, Steve, Scott and Dan left UK club outfit Vertego and drummer
Jordan was recruited, all in the past four months.
Their first gig at The Boardwalk was only a few weekds ago and they received
rave reviews.
Also confirmed to play over the two days are top upcoming local band Monkey
Swallows the Universe, Navvy, Bison, Smokers Die Younger, Atoness, The Guild,
Avangaard, Viva High Rollers, Baby Long Legs, This Floating World, Sarah
Jay, Bare Knuckle Soul and Cherokees.
