The Star has teamed up with Barnsley Animal Rescue, Labrador Welfare and Rotherham Dog Rescue in the hunt to get new owners for dogs who are just desperate to find a loving home.

Benji
Benji is about 2 ½ years old and is a long legged Jack Russell who has become a firm favourite with the kennel staff.
Not having had a very good start in life this endearing little chap has very few social graces but he is a quick learner he is.
He needs a home with people who have a sense of humour, a firm but gentle hand, patience and lots of love and exercise.

Rocky
Rocky is a 3 year old Chocolate Labrador. He hates confined spaces so is not doing well in the kennels at Labrador Welfare and we need to get him out as soon as we can.
He has lived with older children, but is wary of other dogs so would be better on his own.
He hasn't lived with cats.
He knows most of his basic commands but still pulls on the lead. He isn't neutered but at present we have funds to offer help towards this.
All our dogs are vaccinated and microchipped.

Sophie
Sophie is a Staffy who is approximately 5 year old.
This darling girl was found in a shed in a dreadful condition with six new-born pups.
It is to her credit and character but detrimental to herself that she has raised all her pups to a fat healthy state.
She is very thin, depressed and desperate for a kind, gentle patient owner who can give her the life that she deserves.

Alfie
Alfie is a gorgeous black and white spaniel terrier crossbreed pup who is about 10 months old.
He is full of life and fun. Alfie is absolutely adorable.
He would suit an active family with plenty of time to spend with him to give him the love, attention and stimulation he needs.
Alfie loves ball games and generally being out and about.
He is very friendly and affectionate and gets on well with other dogs.
He is neutered, vaccinated, wormed and micro-chipped.

Lizzie
Lizzie is a black and tan medium sized bitch about two years old.
She is a very good looking girl.
She is very friendly and affectionate.
She gets on well with other dogs and walks well on the lead.
Lizzie is confident and obedient and is always ready to play games.
She would make a great family friend for a family with older children. She will be spayed micro-chipped and fully vaccinated.

Sadie
Sadie is a very pretty small brown cross breed bitch about three years old.
She was very timid when she first came to us but is rapidly gaining confidence.
She is quiet and gentle, friendly and affectionate.
She gets on well with other dogs and walks well on the lead.
She would be ideally suited to a quiet family where she would get lots of affection and the tender loving care she deserves.
She will be spayed, micro-chipped and fully vaccinated.

Mitch
Meet ‘Mitch’ – he is a 4 year old Staffordshire terrier who through no fault of his own has ended up at the dog rescue.
“We are looking to re-home Mitch in a loving home where he would fit in as part of the family –because he thinks he is human!” said Sarah, who is acting as a foster mum for Mitch who is currently living in High Green.
Mitch has been neutered and is well behaved, trained and loves walkies.
He is very loving and playful and loves to cuddle you!

Sox
Sox is a sturdy brindle and white Staffy at six years of age.
She enjoys steady walks and having her belly rubbed.

Jazz
Jazz is a large, good looking boxer dog between 4 and 5 years of age.
She is happy and energetic with a fabulous temperament and will make a wonderful pet for her new owners! She gets on well with dogs and people alike.
Jazz loves walking, playing and cuddles.
She will fit in well with active owners who will spoil her rotten with lots of love, play and TLC. She is fully vaccinated and chipped.

Smokey
Smokey had not had a good life before arriving at Barnsley Animal Rescue Centre.
He has spent most of his five years tethered to a short chain.
However, after some time at BARC he walks well on a lead and has a playful, friendly nature.
As you can see his face is full of character and is absolutely beautiful.
He now needs special someone to continue to restore his faith in people, show him how to enjoy life and prove to him that he can be loved and cared for with respect and true devotion!
He is vaccinated and chipped.

Lucky and Misty
Lucky is a gorgeous four year old Dalmatian cross.
He is very dependant on his mother Misty and feels a little lost when she isn't by his side.
Misty is a five year old cross.
She has a wonderful temperament and just loves to play ball!
It would be preferable to find owners who would take both Misty and Lucky into their homes.
They are both vaccinated and chipped.

Henry - Labrador cross
Henry is a three-year-old Labrador cross.
He has been in the kennels for 18 months now and sadly just never gets picked.
He does get on with some dogs but unfortunately not all.
He is lovely with people but strong on the lead and would therefore need experienced owners.
He can be quite boisterous therefore would be most suited to a home without young children because he is so affectionate and may knock them over.
He has been neutered and fully vaccinated, and will be micro chipped upon adoption. All he just needs a loving home.
