All the gossip from the world of football.
THE SUN: Mike Ashley is willing to sell Newcastle for £420million. The Toon supremo named his price last month when a New York finance company made an approach to buy the club. Ashley told private equity investors InterMedia Partners - based in the swanky Chrysler Building - he wanted £420m to seal the deal. The Americans' interest was so serious, owner Ashley permitted them to see all of Newcastle's financial documents, accounts and records. Also: Liverpool will refuse to pay the £18million Aston Villa want for Gareth Barry...Harry Kewell has agreed a three-year deal with Galatasaray...Shaun Wright-Phillips has been told by his dad Ian Wright to quit Chelsea for Portsmouth.

DAILY MIRROR: Barcelona have turned up the heat on Arsenal with a final £30million bid for Emmanuel Adebayor. The Spanish giants have seen a £25million bid rejected by the Gunners, who may be willing to sell - but are holding out for the right deal. Barca sporting vice-president Marc Ingla has been in London to try and negotiate with Arsenal. But he flew home leaving them with the "take it or leave it" offer over striker Adebayor to try to force their hand. Also: Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon has launched a double charm offensive to try and sign Didier Drogba and Cristiano Ronaldo...Andrei Arshavin last night flew in from Russia to sign for Chelsea...Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has had a £10million offer for Russia striker Roman Pavlyuchenko knocked back by Spartak Moscow.

DAILY MAIL: Chelsea have moved ahead of Barcelona in the race to sign Andrei Arshavin with Russia's Euro 2008 star due in London today for talks over a move to Stamford Bridge...Rafa Benitez has added Brazilian goalkeeper Diego Cavalieri to the list of candidates to provide cover for first-choice Pepe Reina...Manchester City have told Brazilian superstar Ronaldinho that they will not wait for ever for a decision on his future.

DAILY EXPRESS: Cristiano Ronaldo has delivered another crushing blow to Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson by giving Portugal the green light to appoint Carlos Queiroz. While the battle rages on between Old Trafford and Real Madrid for his services, Ronaldo could now be responsible for Ferguson losing his trusted right-hand man and possible successor. The Portuguese Football Federation approached Ronaldo about who he would like to succeed new Chelsea boss Luiz Felipe Scolari at the national team's helm. The winger threw his support behind Queiroz, who has been given until Sunday by the Portuguese to make up his mind. Also: Andrei Arshavin has told his club Zenit St Petersburg that he wants to quit and join Chelsea.

DAILY STAR: Manchester United were last night in meltdown over Cristiano Ronaldo. The European champions and their star player were at loggerheads over his injured ankle, the constant link with Real Madrid and his part in the possible departure of Carlos Queiroz. United have furiously told the Portuguese FA that they will decide when Ronaldo has surgery after they revealed he would need an ankle op that would make him miss the start of the season. Also: Chelsea are considering using Didier Drogba as part of the deal to land Real Madrid ace Robinho...Real Mallorca last night claimed Jonas Gutierrez's move to Newcastle is threatening the future of the Spanish club...Arsenal have been warned off transfer target Marcos Senna and told he will cost them £25million.

THE GUARDIAN: Barcelona are to submit an increased offer worth about £30m for Emmanuel Adebayor after Arsenal privately conceded that they are prepared to sell the unsettled Togo striker if the price is right.

THE INDEPENDENT: Manchester City's executive chairman Garry Cook has put the chances of the club securing Ronaldinho's services at 50/50, although the player's brother and agent, Roberto de Assis, said last night that he is highly likely to move instead to Milan.
