THE SUN: Mike Ashley is willing to sell Newcastle for £420million. The Toon supremo named his price last month when a New York finance company made an approach to buy the club. Ashley told private equity investors InterMedia Partners - based in the swanky Chrysler Building - he wanted £420m to seal the deal. The Americans' interest was so serious, owner Ashley permitted them to see all of Newcastle's financial documents, accounts and records. THE GUARDIAN: Barcelona are to submit an increased offer worth about £30m for Emmanuel Adebayor after Arsenal privately conceded that they are prepared to sell the unsettled Togo striker if the price is right.

THE INDEPENDENT: Manchester City's executive chairman Garry Cook has put the chances of the club securing Ronaldinho's services at 50/50, although the player's brother and agent, Roberto de Assis, said last night that he is highly likely to move instead to Milan.
