FIREFIGHTERS have been pumping thousands of gallons of water from flooded homes and businesses across South Yorkshire.
Much of the water has receded from roads and ground floors, but dozens of cellars still remain flooded.

Officers from Darnall spent much of yesterday trying to clear 18ft of water from the English Pewter Company in Princess Street, Attercliffe .
The company suffered extensive damage and 35 staff cars were destroyed when more than 4ft of water engulfed the area.

Darnall fire station watch manager Eric Bugdol said: "I have been a firefighter for 20 years and I have never seen anything like this.
"It is important now that we get as many homes and businesses pumped out as soon as possible so people can start going about their lives."

Firefighters pumped 2ft of water from a boiler room at Regent Court flats, Hills-borough, and water in the Three Horseshoes pub in Bentley, Doncaster.
